Swim Development, Technique & Coaching
-
I have spent the majority of my life in and around the water. I trained for over a decade with the Ohio State Swim Club and competed for Columbus School for Girls, specializing in distance events. Years of competitive swimming provided extensive experience with stroke mechanics, endurance training, race strategy, pacing, and technical skill development.
Swimming is a highly technical sport. Small adjustments in body position, timing, breathing patterns, and stroke mechanics can have a significant impact on efficiency and performance. My coaching focuses on identifying those details and helping swimmers develop a better understanding of how and why they move through the water.
In addition to my swimming background, I am CPR certified, a 200-hour certified yoga instructor, and currently pursuing my Master's in Dietetics. My background in movement, physiology, and health education informs my coaching approach and allows me to explain concepts in a way that is both practical and evidence-based.

All lessons are individualized based on the swimmer's goals, experience level, and areas for improvement. Instruction is available for swimmers seeking water confidence and safety skills, technical development, swim team preparation, stroke refinement, or endurance training.
Areas of Focus
Water safety skills
Breath control
Floating and body position
Freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly
Stroke mechanics and efficiency
Starts and turns
Race pacing and strategy
Endurance development
Swim team preparation
Open water swimming skills

Swimming performance extends beyond simply completing laps. Whether preparing for a swim team season, returning to the sport, or looking to become more efficient in the water, instruction is centered on long-term development and measurable progress.
Areas addressed:
Stroke efficiency and energy conservation
Distance training and pacing strategies
Turns and starts
Breathing patterns and rhythm
Race preparation and mental approach
Body awareness and mobility
Training consistency and goal setting
Building confidence through technical proficiency
My philosophy is that effective coaching combines technical precision with a clear understanding of movement. The objective is to develop swimmers who not only perform skills correctly but also understand the reasoning behind them, creating habits that transfer across practices, races, and lifelong participation in the sport.
